Visited Waimangu on a Sunday afternoon and it was stunning - lovely scenery and a great map with a written guide to the sights. We hardly met any others during our walk, so it felt like we were alone. The lake was lovely and tranquil, and the free shuttle was nice at the end of the easy walk. Really stunning views and well worth the 30 minutes drive out of Rotorua.
